Olives and Moss

Here we are, it’s already August 27th! So much on catching up.

We did manage to get down the shore. There isn’t much difference between the beach and the shore, except that growing up we always called the New Jersey beaches the “shore”. Look it up, it’s a real thing!

With work being so time consuming, ugh, it was great to get away and have no work responsibilities. We went to Wildwood Crest and had an amazing and super relaxing get away. We even took a ride to Cape May and had brunch at the historic Mad Batter.

I pretty much spent every weekend making at least a sourdough sandwich loaf and the occasional batch of cinnamon buns. Who knew that sourdough based buns were so good?

July 14th was a pretty emotional day. It was time to get Lady spayed. She was 9 months old and in my mind it was time. She’s extremely rambunctious and I had hoped it would calm her down. Spoiler alert- it did not!

And the cone! It was supposed to be on her until she went back to the vet for a check up 2 weeks after the surgery. Nope, by the 11th day after, I couldn’t handle the cone any longer, both of my legs were bruised from my calves to my ankles so I took it off! Trust me, she wasn’t sad, she was drugged in order to allow her scar time to heal.

Following tradition, I vegged in front of the TV and watched the Open Championship! I still call it the “British Open” and that’s only because I’m old.

And the hubs retired on July 24th! Talk about a shock to the system. Don’t get me wrong, he’s worked his ass off for 50 years and definitely deserves to be retired, but I need time to adjust to him being here an additional 40 hours a week.

We did make it to the Cecil County Fair for the first time ever considering we’ve lived here for 11 years. We took the grandson and had a really good time. It was a different experience but thoroughly enjoyable, considering most of the events here are water related.

Onto catching up on August before it’s a blur as well!
