Who doesn’t love home-made Brownies?

I do, my husband does, my kids do! There is just something about brownies that makes them one of my absolute favorite desserts. This recipe is so easy that my husband made the last batch. He even opted to add some chocolate chips to the batter.

Full credit for the recipe must be given to my former mother-in-law. I’m not even sure where or when she got the recipe, but it has been the “go to” recipe for brownies.

1 Cup Crisco (shortening) 2 t. vanilla

3/4 Cup cocoa 4 eggs

2 Cups sugar 1 Cup flour

Preheat oven to 350*. Grease 13x9x2 pan.

In microwave, melt Crisco. Add cocoa and stir until well blended.

Add sugar and mix. Beat in eggs, one at a time. Add vanilla. Mix in flour, do not overbeat.

Spread in pan, bake 25 to 30 minutes.

That’s it! Super simple and really delicious. I like my brownies a little on the thicker side so I bake them in an 11 x 7 pan. There is no need to adjust the baking time, the brownies still come out perfect!
