It was a great Mother’s Day today. I went to the Phillies game with both of my daughters and we were treated to a Phillies win! The weather was perfect for early May, the cheesesteaks were awesome and it was fun to spend the day with just us girls. I couldn’t have received a better gift!
Now onto the bad news….Dough-lene 2.0 didn’t make it to the finish line. She couldn’t keep up with T.O. unfortunately, so I decided to discard her. Sorry Dough-lene.

T.O. lived up to the hype. He continued to rise and become a sturdy starter as advertised. So this morning before heading to the game, I baked my first loaf of bread. I should add that yesterday was prep day, mixing the dough, stretch and folds, bulk fermentation and lastly, letting the loaf rest overnight.
So I cut into the loaf after I got home….well more lessons to work on. The crust was fairly hard, however the inside tasted really good. Definitely tastes a lot better than anything that you buy at a grocery store. Then there is the added satisfaction of finally using the “essentials” that you purchased to make the sourdough.
I will be checking out some more recipes and watching more videos to get the sourdough right! Plus the hubs is already requesting small sandwich sized rolls and pretzel bites.
