May is getting a little busy!

Yesterday was one of my favorite days. The Kentucky Derby! And naturally, we celebrated. It is a tradition after all. I have glasses that I collected from the Derby when I attended in 2005 (there’s that getting old thing again)! We make mint juleps, and spend most of the afternoon waiting for the race. And of course, we place our bets. Spoiler alert, neither of us won.

The hubs son-in-law gets him a bottle of bourbon each Christmas that we save for Derby Day. I wasn’t really a fan of this particular bottle, but it also could have been partly due to our freezer deciding it didn’t want to crush the ice as we normally do. We struggled through and made the most of it.

By the way, the picture of the bridge is one that I capture frequently. It’s just a backset of the sun reflecting on the bridge right before sunset and the reflections change quickly.

Lots of work coming this month along with Mother’s Day and Memorial Day, and of course seeing which sourdough starter I will be using.
